I am very disappointed to pass on the news that our St. John Fisher Dinner on November 25th has been cancelled. I received word on Tuesday that Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J., our St. John Fisher Visitor, had unexpected heart surgery this past week. He told me that he was feeling fine, but his doctors have not given him permission to travel until at least the new year, requiring that he cancel his visit to Queen’s. He hopes to come another time, but is not able to accept new appointments until the doctor gives approval. Ever the theologian and faithful Jesuit, he told me to pass on to everyone his own disappointment, but to take this occasion to remember that we cannot put our trust in earthly realities, but only in the supernatural. I, in turn, assured him of our prayers, and ask that you pray for his quick return to full strength.
